Welcome to the Research Innovation and Development Unit at Kabete National Polytechnic. The main function of this unit is to promote Research and Innovation activities among staff and students in the institution by supporting staff and students to conduct high quality research that is relevant to societal needs. In implementing this core function, we also:

• 1. Develop and promote a Research culture at the Polytechnic;
• 2. Promote Innovation and Extension activities;
• 3. Establish collaborative Research linkages;
• 4. Promote Transfer of Technology for Development.

Kabete National Polytechnic has sufficient potential for high quality research due to its large number of qualified staff in diverse areas of specialization. In achieving the above mandates, the Research Innovation and Development department ensures:

• i. Ethical practice in Research;
• ii. Protection of Intellectual Property Rights;
• iii. Up-holding appropriate Code of Conduct.

Staff and students have made presentations in research conferences and publications in referred journals are fast becoming common place in the Institution. Innovations from staff and students have attained podium positions in the Regional, National and at the International Fairs. The Innovators in the department have also performed well in Robotics and Automation. We are currently the defending champion for the last two years having won both at regional and National level.
