The main objective of the hospitality department is to produce competent graduates with the relevant knowledge, skills and requisite attitude for the operations and management of the Hospitality establishments of international standards.
In the last four years of examinations, the department has achieved exceptional results with a high pass rate of 90%. The HOD, Miss Caroline Wanjohi hopes to maintain a consistent record of high pass rates and distinctions among students. The following are the courses being offered in the Hospitality department.
• Catering and Accommodation Management level 6
• Food and Beverage technology level 5
• Catering and Accommodations Operations level 5
RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS
The department has successfully updated curriculum to align with current industry trends, established partnerships with leading hotels and resorts for internships and on-the-job training and upgraded practical training kitchens and restaurants to industry standards giving students hands-on experience in managing hotel operations.
“In the coming years, our target as the Hospitality and Consumer studies department is to attain 100% pass rate and our vision for the institute is to be a skill-oriented institute that will be recognized both locally and internationally enabling the trainees to advance their knowledge and skills for a sustainable hospitality sector”. Our trainees in the Hospitality and Consumer Studies department secure attachment in hotels, hospitals, institutions and many other organizations in the country. Some are already employed in five-star hotels in the country while others have started their own ventures which have created employment.
