Diploma in Social Work & Community Development

Course Description

The Diploma in Social Work & Community Development is a program designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to address social issues and work effectively with communities. This program prepares students to play an integral role in improving the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through advocacy, support, and community-driven solutions.

The curriculum covers essential topics such as social welfare, community organizing, social justice, human rights, counseling, project management, and social policy. Students will also learn about community development practices, resource mobilization, social work ethics, and the role of social workers in promoting sustainable development and improving social conditions.

The program emphasizes practical learning through fieldwork, case studies, and internships, where students gain hands-on experience in social service agencies, community organizations, and non-profit sectors. Students will also engage in community-based projects and interact with professionals in the field through seminars, workshops, and networking events.

Requirements

Diploma: A mean grade of C- (minus) or higher in KCSE
Certificate: A mean grade of D+ (plus) or higher in KCSE
