The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially opened the Inter-Institutional Transfer (IIT) window for the 2025/2026 academic year. This period, running from July 14 to August 24, 2025, will provide an opportunity for students placed in universities and colleges to request transfers to different institutions or programs ahead of the September 2025 intake.
Who Is Eligible?
Only students who were successfully placed by KUCCPS during the 2025/2026 cycle are eligible to apply for an inter-institutional transfer. Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements and cut-off points for the desired program and institution. Additionally, a valid reason for the transfer—such as medical, financial, or personal circumstances—should be clearly stated and supported with relevant documentation .
How to Apply for a KUCCPS Transfer
The transfer process is conducted entirely online through the KUCCPS Student Portal. Follow these steps to apply:
Log in to the KUCCPS Student Portal using your KCSE index number, examination year, and password (typically your birth certificate number).
Navigate to the “Transfer Application” tab.
Enter the code of the institution and program you wish to transfer to.
Provide a reason for the transfer and upload any supporting documents.
Confirm that you meet the program’s requirements.
Submit your application.
Pay a non-refundable processing fee of KES 1,000 via M-Pesa or eCitizen, following the portal’s instructions.
The application will be sent to the receiving institution for endorsement.
Once endorsed, the releasing institution will process the release.
KUCCPS will review the application and, if approved, generate a transfer letter.
Download the transfer letter and present it to the new institution for admission and joining instructions.
Important Guidelines
Each student is allowed only one transfer application, so ensure your decision is well-considered.
Transfers submitted after August 24, 2025, will not be accepted unless under exceptional circumstances.
Before applying, verify that the desired program has available slots and that you meet the necessary cluster points.
Once approved, report to the new institution(Kabete National Polytechnic) with your transfer letter to assist in processing of your admission letter.
